TWO Great Cornard SEFKA Karate Club members have been awarded their 1st Dan Black Belts.

Natalie Martin, 14, and Callum Fuller, 15, reached new heights in their karate training at the association’s black and brown belt grading examinations.

The examination, which was held at Great Cornard Sports Centre, was open to senior grades from all the clubs within the SEFKA organisation.

Fourteen members took part in the tests which took four hours to complete, and nine of the candidates completed the gruelling examination to the satisfaction of the association’s technical committee.

The successes are the result of years of dedication and hard work. High grade members wishing to take part in the tests not only trained regularly at their normal clubs, but attended extra high grade training.

l Great Cornard Karate Club meets on Wednesday evenings at Great Cornard Sports Centre. For more information call club instructor Bob Plumb 6th dan on 01787 371131.
