With just two more matches to play in the Border Invitation Cribbage League Melford Working Men’s Club took all five points with a 10-5 win at the Glemsford Black Lion C.

Clare Bell moved into second with a 13-2 win at home to Melford Hare.

The Black Lion A team took all five points off the Barnardiston Arms in a 9-6 home win, while Stoke-by-Clare Lion lost 9-6 at the Cherry Tree.

Just two points separate the bottom four teams.

The Cavendish Bull moved up three places with an 8-7 win at home to Black Lion B, one point ahead of the Barnardiston Arms and the Lion B, leaving the Lion C trailing by one point at the bottom.

n Melford British Legion won their second game in a row in the Glemsford and District Cribbage League, reducing their deficit of 11 points three weeks ago down to three at the bottom of the table by defeating Stoke-by-Clare Lion.

The top two teams both had 10-5 wins, the Glemsford Black Lion over third-placed Glemsford Club A and the Clare Ex-Service Club at home to Melford Working Men’s Club B.

The Cherry Tree moved up to fourth after beating visitors the Angel and Melford Hare beat Cavendish Bull 9-6, while Glemsford Club B had another 8-7 win with four points against the Cock.

The Melford Club’s A team took four points from the Pinkuah Arms with an 8-7 win.
