MARSHALL HATCHICK TWO COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE: Hadleigh 138-7 lost to Frinton 221-5 by 83 runs: Hadleigh could not muster enough firepower with the bat as they lost their first home game of the season.
After welcoming back several regular players, the hosts elected to bowl first after winning the toss in a reduced 40-overs-a-side game.
They got off to a great start with Kyle Tanner again taking two early wickets and restricting Frinton to 10-2.
However, this only brought Ben Foakes to the crease.
The Essex batsman, along with Mervyn Westfield, upped the run-rate and Hadleigh’s bowlers had no answer to the powerful batting.
Sam Handley eventually picked up the wicket of Westfield, but this did not stop Foakes going on to score a powerful hundred as Frinton eventually reached 241-5.
Hadleigh got off to a solid reply in return, with Marlon Dias and Josh Davey putting on 50 for the first wicket.
When Dias fell, this was followed quickly by Luke Ibbs and Tom Piddington and Hadleigh were then soon behind the rate.
This proved too much to pull back around and Hadleigh eventually finished up on 138-6.
n Hadleigh II saw their game at Felixstowe lost to the weather.
n Hadleigh Sunday lost to Woolpit by 116 runs in Hunts County Bats Sunday League Division One.
Fielding a very youthful side, Hadleigh struggled in the field with Woolpit making 241 all out despite Kalpesh Ellis taking three wickets.
In reply, only knocks from Callum Morrin (30) and Tim Rix (21) put any dent in the chase with Hadleigh eventually being bowled out for 125.
