SUDBURY CC kept clear of the danger zone with a draw at home to Burwell, while Vauxhall Mallards proved too tough for Halstead on their travels.
Sudbury remain in eighth place in the East Anglian Premier League after a general draw with struggling Burwell, who made 317-8 in their 66 overs but then failed to bowl out the home side.
The Talbots, who saw Wilmanaga Perera and Darren Batch each take three wickets, put on 231-7 from 56 overs with Batch making 72 and Jay Phillips 35. Perera, in what is believed to be his last game, made 34.
Meanwhile, Halstead lost to title-chasers Vauxhall Mallards by 165 runs.
Their opponents declared at 316-5 after 62 overs with none of the Halstead bowlers taking more than one wicket.
In reply, Halstead’s best performer was Amit Gupta with 74 but the side were all out at 151 from 31.3 overs.
*AFC Sudbury were in pre-season action at Halstead Town on Friday night and won 3-0 with the goals coming from Sam Clarke, Dave Wareham and Liam Whittaker.
