Weekend sport: AFC draw on opening day

AN injury-time equaliser denied AFC Sudbury a win at Redbridge while Hadleigh United are through to the prelimianry round of the FA Cup after a 3-2 win at Stanway Rovers.

In the cricket, Sudbury won by five wickets at home to Saffron Walden with five wickets for Craig Smith and an 84no from captain Darren Batch. Halstead drew at home to bottom side Norwich after batting second and hitting 175 to their opponent’s 246.
