AFC Sudbury extended their unbeaten run to six matches following a 2-2 draw with Soham Town Rangers.

Steve Spriggs and Ollie Hughes had put the home side ahead following Luke Stanley’s opener but a Jack Cawley own goal before the break saw the sides have to settle for a share of the spoils in an encounter which also saw Ross Watson dismissed.

In the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, Hadleigh United remain seven points clear at the top of the table after a comfortable 5-2 win over Stanway Rovers.

A Josh Mayhew brace was added to Duane Wright, Paul Donnelly and an own goal to seal all three points for the hosts.

In the First Division, Halstead Town made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 success at home to Debenham LC, Long Melfpord beat Saffron Walden Town 4-1 and Cornard United suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Stowmarket Town.

Gary Hooper scored a fantastic volley as Norwich City drew 1-1 with Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League, while Ipswich Town held Nottingham Forest to a goalless draw.

In the rugby, Sudbury halted a run of three straight defeats with an emphatic 65-15 victory at home to Canvey Island.
