In the Championship the pressure on Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell increased with a 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic at Portman Road.
Two goals in two minutes, from Johnie Jackson and ex-Town loan man Ricardo Fuller, put Charlton in the driving seat early in the second half and despite a Jason Scotland deflected strike, Ipswich were unable to force an equaliser, with Nathan Ellington firing over late on.
In the rugby Sudbury lost 41-22 in London Three North East, their second defeat from their two opening games while Hadleigh lost 43-31 at Newmarket in Greene King IPA Eastern Counties One.
