Weekend round-up: Dave Cowley earns AFC Sudbury a point

Dave Cowley’s first-half header was enough to hand AFC Sudbury a 1-1 draw on their travel at Witham Town.

The winger, more used to crossing the ball than heading them in, made amends for James Baker’s missed penalty, before Witham took the lead from the spot.

There were more penalties at the Millfield where a below-par Hadleigh United came from one spot-kick down to win 2-1 against Norwich United with penalties of their own in the fourth and fifth minutes of stoppage time.

Matt Downing kept his cool to convert both, while the hosts also had Lee McGlone red-carded for violent conduct.

Jule Mumford kept up his 100 per cent record as Long Melford’s new manager as the Villagers thrashed Debenham LC 5-0 in the First Division, while Cornard United lost 5-0 at Braintree Town Reserves and Halstead Town drew 3-3 with Great Yarmouth Town.
