Wardley moves to Hadleigh United

SHANE Wardley, the favourite of the fans at AFC Sudbury for several seasons, has signed for Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Hadleigh United after spending the last three weeks training at the Millfield.

Wardley, who moved to Leiston to rejoin former AFC manager Mark Morsley four years ago, was released by the Ryman League North champions at the end of the season.

He had talks with a number of clubs, including AFC and Needham Market, but failed to agree a deal with either Ryman club.

Hadleigh manager Stuart Crawford said: “I expected him to join a Ryman League side. But Shane sees the potential at Hadleigh, and had joined us after turning down better offers from other Thurlow Nunn League clubs.”

n Hadleigh have appointed Liam Britton as reserve team manager, replacing Jason Curtis who has left the club. Britton has played for AFC Reserves, Long Melford and Sudbury Athletic.
