Dave Dowding felt his Cornard side deserved much more than a sixth straight defeat at Blackhouse Lane on Saturday, as Dereham Town Reserves came away with a 3-2 victory.

A 79th minute winner completed Nic Hook’s hat-trick as the visitors twice took the lead, with the home side always playing catch-up on the scoreboard, despite two Ben Turner levellers.

Former Glemsford and Cavendish United player Dowding praised his teammates’ display, but bemoaned their lack of a cutting edge in front of goal for costing them the points.

The 24-year-old also revealed the team spirit against the off-the-field problems is still strong, with the whole squad determined to pull together in the face of adversity.
