Cornard Dynamos FC and Hadleigh United’s Gavin Peters are among the McDonald’s Community Awards winners who will be honoured at the Suffolk FA Awards dinner on June 4.

Gavin Peters wins the award for Outstanding Contribution to Community Football. He has played a major part in the huge rise in the number of boys and girls playing football in Hadleigh and surrounding villages.

Hadleigh United Youth FC now have a team in every year group and some have two teams, and he has overcome issues with sourcing new locations for additional pitch requirements and pitch marking.

Cornard Dynamos win the FA Charter Standard Development Club award. The club has gone from strength-to-strength in the last ten years, and now has 24 teams including girls’ and disability teams.

There is also a 3-6-years group every Saturday morning to bring youngsters into the club and create new U7s teams each year.

The club uses Skills coaches to get involved with new teams to help with their development and has a fund set aside for managers/coaches to use to help them on the coaching pathway.

The awards dinner will be held at Portman Road, where former Ipswich Town manager George Burley will take part in a question and answer session. Former Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks is the guest speaker.

n Cornard United’s annual meeting will be held at the club on June 15 (7.30pm). Anyone wishing to stand for any of the core committee roles should apply in writing to the current chairman at harvey.doherty@sky.com.
