A hat-trick from Kris Newby, and two goals from Ayrton Coley, his first for the club, saw AFC Sudbury crush Ryman League Division One North basement side Great Wakering Rovers on Tuesday night.

Newby was on target in the ninth and 25th minutes and Coley opened his account after 38 minutes to give AFC a 3-0 interval lead.

Tom Strickland pulled one back for the home side after 56 minutes, but Newby restored the three-goal lead seven minutes later and Coley got the fifth five minutes from time.

Newby’s hat-trick was the first by an AFC player since Lee Boylan scored three against Romford in October 2012.
