Stoke-by-Nayland FC players will bid farewell to their Recreation ground home, with a Past v Present game on May 30 (1pm). Players from neighbours Nayland will also be involved.

The club’s current changing rooms, in a hut dating from the First World War, are being demolished, to be rebuilt elsewhere in Suffolk by the Khaki Devil company, which specialises in the period.

Stoke-by-Nayland, who play in the Colchester and East Essex League,
have been based at the ground for more than 60 years.

The club is planning a temporary move away, but aims to return once funding can be raised to construct new changing rooms.

Next season the club seems likely to be based at Nayland - who now play in Mile End - and discussions are taking place with local officials.
