Thurlow Nunn League Preview: Home comforts in the First Division

Long Melford and Cornard United both have home advantage on Saturday as they look to claim Thurlow Nunn League First Division points off Yarmouth Town and Dereham Town Reserves on Saturday (both 3pm).

The Villagers, whose match with Needham Market Reserves was postponed last night, face a mid-table Great Yarmouth side who have not played since December 28th’s 3-2 defeat at Fakenham Town.

Second-from-bottom Cornard will be looking to end a run of five straight league defeats when 14th-placed Dereham Town Reserves visit Blackhouse Lane.

AFC Sudbury’s Reserves’ match at home to Halstead Town, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to several of the Sudbury squad being called up for county duty (see Page 68).

n Meanwhile, former Long Melford players Cecil Hunt (1950s) asnd Phil Kirkwin (1970s) have both passed away.
