AFC Sudbury were once again left to rue their ill-discipline as they eliminated from the Robert Dyas Cup following a 3-0 defeat to higher-league Grays Athletic.

In a match largely dominated by the Ryman League Premier Divison visitors, the first flash point came after 40 minutes as Sudbury’s Lawrence Yiga was harshly shown a straight red card following an altercation with Athletic goalkeeper Lamar Johnson.

With the numerical advantage the visitors also dominated much of the second period and finally sealed their berth in the semi-finals with goals from Akwasi Marfo, Dumebi Dumaka and Kenny Beaney to inflict a first defeat of Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold since taking over in January.
