AFC Sudbury moved up to third in Ryman League Division One North with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Romford.

After a goalless first-half, goals from Terry Rymer, Gianfranco Mallardo and an own goal sealed all three points for the Yellows to boost their play-off aspirations.

Hadleigh United extended their unbeaten run to six matches in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division with a 1-1 draw with Felixstowe and Walton United, while in the First Division Long Melford remain two points adrift of leaders Saffron Walden Town following a 3-0 success over Woodbridge Town.

Elsewhere Halstead Town were eliminated from the First Division Knockout Cup following a narrow 3-2 defeat to Great Yarmouth Town.

Meanwhile, unbeaten Sudbury Rugby Club strengthened their position at the top of London Three North East with an emphatic 60-7 victory against Old Brentwoods.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Ipswich Town saw their promotion hopes dented after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Reading.

Jamie Mackie struck the decisive blow after just 14 minutes to leave the Tractor Boys in fourth place, five points adrift of leaders Derby County.

Meanwhile, rivals Norwich City moved up to fifth with an impressive 3-0 victory away at Watford.

Lewis Grabban opened the scoring with a 65th minute penalty before Cameron Jerome doubled the tally just five minutes later.

Grabban added a third with 10 minutes remaining to wrap up victory.
