New Cornard United manager Mark Hoskins is looking to avoid becoming the Thurlow Nunn League First Division’s whipping boys again this season.
The Blackhouse Lane club picked up their only four points in their final two matches of a miserable 2012/13.
Only two players are left from Chris Symes’ squad last season with the owner now having taken a backseat with the club waiting to be sold.#
“We are certainly not looking to be the whipping boys by any stretch,” said Hoskins, though he admitted anything above five points would be considered an achievement.
Teenage centre-back Josh Sheffield is tipped to have a breakthrough season from the under-18s, with James Beckett again captaining the side.
Seventeen-year-old striker Charlie Knight has made the switch from Halstead Town before kicking a ball ahead of Cornard’s home game against March Town United on Saturday (3pm), with the Ards then travelling to Whitton United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
