Two goals conceded in the opening seven minutes left Hadleigh down and out against a superior Brantham outfit at The Millfield on Saturday.

A fumble by Sam Mansfield allowed Adam Bloss a tap-in at the far post for the opener, before Sean Bartlett fired in number two against a shell-shocked Brettsiders outfit.

Early in the second half Brantham were awarded a penalty, but Mansfield made a fine save from Ollie Mann’s spot kick.

However, two minutes later Michael Brothers made it 3-0 to a rampant Blue Imps side.

The final drama came in the last minute when another Mann spot kick produced an even better save from the busy Mansfield.

Manager Stuart Alston commented: “We were beaten by the better side today. The two early goals were decisive.”

The Brettsiders (18th) are just three points and one place above the bottom three ahead of a trip to fifth-place Thetford Town this Saturday (3pm).
