AFC Sudbury’s scheduled game at Redbridge is one of a host of matches involving local sides which has succumbed to the wet weather — but Long Melford and Sudbury rugby are set to play.
Jules Mumford’s Melford side are due to travel to Downham Town (3pm) in what would be the only Thurlow Nunn League First Division match to go ahead this afternoon, if it survives a pitch inspection.
Water-logged pitches have seen games involving AFC Sudbury, AFC Sudbury Reserves (home to Team Bury), Halstead Town (at March Town United) and Long Melford Reserves all postponed.
But Sudbury Rugby Club head coach Graham Richards confirmed their Suffolk RFU Cup semi-final at Woodbridge will go ahead (2pm) with the club already on their way over at 11.45am.
Ipswich Town’s home game with Bolton Wanderers, who signed ex-West Suffolk College pupil Liam Trotter on loan from Millwall on transfer deadline day on Friday, is understood to be in no doubt of going ahead.
Another ex-Ipswich Town player with west Suffolk links, former Bury St Edmunds schoolboy (King Edward VI Upper School) Ed Upson, completed a move from Yeovil Town to fellow Championship club Millwall on Friday.
