Despite the influential Tes Bramble failing a fitness test on a back injury, league leaders Hadleigh United carried far too much attacking power for lowly Stanway Rovers in a 5-2 victory in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division on Saturday.

Duane Wright’s free-kick beat on-loan AFC Sudbury goalkeeper and former Brettsider Dan Heath for the first after 12 minutes, while eight minutes later Michael Barwick created for Josh Mayhew to double their advantage.

Hadleigh added a third after 51 minutes when Paul Donnelly stabbed home from a Matt Downing free-kick.

Another dangerous Downing free-kick resulted in Marlon North putting into his own net.

With an hour played, the lively Mayhew made up for his two earlier misses by breaking clear to beat Heath for number five.

Stanway scored two late consolation goals through North and AFC loanee Michel Brothers.

Hadleigh travel to Ely City on Saturday (3pm) before hosting Brantham Athletic on December 27 (3pm).
