THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE

PREMIER DIVISION

Hadleigh United 2

Mildenhall Town 1

Hadleigh ended a run of three defeats but had to dig deep in the closing stages to retain a one-goal lead as Mildenhall attacked strongly.

The Brettsiders went ahead after 11 minutes when Ryan Stafford tried his luck from wide on the right and the ball went inside the far post.

A second goal followed in the 25th minutes as David Lorimer raced through unchallenged from the halfway line to beat exposed keeper Josh Pope.

Mildenhall had a good spell, with Hadleigh keeper Ben Nower saving bravely before Richard Chadwick headed over the bar in the later stages of the first half.

Straight from the restart, Dan Brown broke through for Mildenhall but Nower made a superb save.

At the other end, Lorimer fired tamely into Pope’s arms with an attempted lob.

Matt Green headed powerfully past Nower after 61 minutes to reduce the deficit and the remainder of the game was contested in Hadleigh’s half for long periods.

But, Ian Brown’s side defended soundly to retain their narrow advantage.
