Griffiths sees his loan deal extended

FORMER Great Cornard schoolboy Jamie Griffiths has extended his loan spell at League Two Playmouth Argyle by a further month.

The young midfielder is bidding to win himself a contract extension at parent club Ipswich Town by showing what he can do playing first-team football at Home Park.

Griffiths has started two matches for the Pilgrims and been named as a substitute three times since joining on transfer deadline day, impressing Argyle caretaker-boss Carl Fletcher.

“Jamie’s attitude since he’s been here has been great and he’s worked hard every day,” he told the club website.

“He is a good person to have around the place and hopefully he can push for a position in the starting line-up.”

The 19-year-old, whose contract at Ipswich is due to run out in December, will be elligible to play for Plymouth up to and including November 5.

Griffiths, who used to play for Cornard Dynamos, made his Ipswich Town debut in the Carling Cup against Northampton Town last season, coming on as a late substitute in the 3-1 fourth round win.
