AFC Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold believes his side will learn from their mistakes as they approach this weekend’s league and cup double header at The Wardale Williams Stadium.
Tuesday night’s 1-0 win at Soham Town Rangers followed back-to-back defeats in which Sudbury conceded 11 goals.
Godbold’s side lost 5-1 to Brightlingsea Regent in the League Cup before their 100 percent league record came to an end with a 6-2 defeat against Cray Wanderers.
“It’s been a strange few weeks,” said Godbold. “One of the messages we gave to them is that they had not become a bad team overnight.
“We just had to start controlling the things we can and on Tuesday we were much better and good value for the win.”
Sudbury take on Ware in the FA Cup on Saturday, followed by a league match against Witham on Monday, both 3pm, and Godbold says his team are over the blip.
“It was a lesson for us that we’ve got to be on our game and do the ugly things well,” he added.
“When you look at the table, we’re still second with four wins from five and it’s now about building on that. We’ve got two important games this weekend which if we win will give us a fantastic opening to the season.”
