AFC Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold has revealed he will not be putting any restrictions on his players during Christmas.
The high-flying Yellows have won their last seven games to sit second in Ryman League Division One North.
And ahead of visiting Witham Town on Boxing Day (3pm), Godbold has told his players to be wary of overindulging the day before.
“I’m not putting any restrictions on the players,” the AFC boss said. “All I have said to them is if you make sacrifices, I think you end up getting rewards.
“If you were to fast forward to the end of the season and end up losing the league by a point because you lose a game on Boxing Day you would be fuming.
“I just use myself as an example: I never had a drink on Christmas Day and I can look back on a CV with a list of championships I have won and you, of course, approach each and every game the same.
“That can be difficult at Christmas and I am sure Gary (Kimble, Witham manager) will be having the same chat with his players.
“We are right up there and it would be a shame if we did not conduct ourselves and prepare for the game as any other.”
