Gladiators progress

GLEMSFORD Gladiators advanced to the Suffolk Sunday Trophy quarter-finals thanks to a 5-2 win at Barton Mills.

In the last eight on January 23 (10.30am) they will make the short trip to Sudbury Upper School for a local derby against Silkworm.

There are a number of other county cup games taking place this coming weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday.

Long Melford Reserves host Haverhill Rovers Reserves on Saturday (1.30pm) as they bid for a place in the last four of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

Meanwhile, Glemsford & Cavendish United will be looking to keep their Portman Road dream alive in the Suffolk Junior Cup when they host Bartons at Cavendish Sports Ground in the quarter-finals on Saturday (1.30pm).

In the Suffolk Sunday Shield, Lavenham visit Kitchener Taverners (10.30am), looking to book one of two remaining semi-final spots.

On the same day (1.30pm), AFC Sudbury Ladies and Cornard United Ladies go head-to-head in the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Women’s Cup.

n AFC Sudbury Reserves’ clash with Newmarket Town Reserves in the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup was postponed last night.
