HADLEIGH United manager Stuart Crawford has strengthened his coaching team with the signing of Ian Brown, the former Whitton United manager, as first team coach.

Brown turned down the job as manager of Felixstowe and Walton to join Thurlow Nunn premier division Hadleigh.

Crawford said: “I am very pleased Ian has decided to join us. He has done very well while with Whitton United, and is respected in our area as an excellent coach.

“I felt that we needed another person involved in the management set-up and after a couple of meetings with Ian feel that we will work really well together.”

Brown, who played at Sudbury Town before embarking on a career in the Football League, was manager of Whitton United for three seasons, winning the Suffolk Senior Cup twice. Last season Whitton finished third in division one.

Former Sudbury Town and Hadleigh stalwart Steve Buckle has been appointed manager at Felixstowe and Walton.

n The premier division will have 20 clubs competing next season, one fewer than last season, champions Wroxham having been promoted to the Ryman League.

n At the recent annual general meeting of Hadleigh United, Rolf Beggerow moved from his previous position of acting chairman to become chairman. John Day has been named as vice-chairman.
