Essex and Suffolk Border League round-up: The joy of six for leaders
LITTLE Oakley have leaped to an early lead at the top of the Essex and Suffolk Border League table as they beat Hatfield Peverel 6-0, with goals from Trevor Lewis (two) and Darren Cook (four).
They were joined at the summit by White Notley, who beat Dedham Old Boys 2-1.
West Bergholt went to Gas Recreation and drew 1-1, and Lawford Lads were unable to break down Haverhill Sports Association as it ended 0-0.
Maldon St Mary’s failed to raise a side, so Harwich lay idle, but Holland FC got their season rolling with a 3-0 win over Alresford Colne Rangers, with goals from Lee Meadow, Joe Martin and Lewis Newland.
Great Bentley defeated University Of Essex 2-0, and Earls Colne beat Hedingham United 1-0.
In the First Division, new boys Tollesbury head the table as they defeated Boxted Lodgers 8-2, and Colne Engaine and Bell United beat Rayne 3-1.
Sharing the top are Foxash Social as they beat Mersea Island 4-2.
Tiptree Jobserve went to Coggeshall Town and won 3-0, and Barnston AFC beat Bradfield Rovers 3-0.
Gosfield United drew Kirby Athletic 2-2 and Wormingford Wanderers had a 3-1 win at Clacton United.
