Cornard Dynamos under-11s completed a perfect season, 20 wins from 20 games, to be crowned Colchester B League champions.
In their final match they beat closest rivals Rowhedge 2-1 to maintain their 100% league record.
In an evenly contested game Rowhedge were just off-target following a corner. Kai McKnight then shot wide for Dynamos, before a Morgan Waldock strike was ruled offside.
In the second half Dynamos took the lead when Alfie Haygreen’s corner fell to Jack Hurrell, who netted an excellent goal. The game continued end to end until, from another Haygreen corner, Harvey Clare rose highest to score with a superb header.
Ben Mallinson then made a good stop, before McKnight’s brilliant headed clearance kept Rowhedge at bay. With three minutes remaining Waldock’s crisp shot hit the post, before Rowhedge scored a consolation with the last kick of the game.
n Cornard Dynamos under-12s hosted Halstead in in a Colchester and Essex Youth League derby, the game ending goalless.
It was a tight match, with Cornard coming close on occasions but finding the Halstead keeper on good form and their defence not giving much away. Curtis Harvey was man-of-the-match.
n At home to Reed Hall Sentinels in their next game, Cornard Dynamos under-12s took the game to their opponents, winning 5-0. A good team performance saw man-of-the-match Conner Dye and Lewis Oakes solid at the back.
