Haverhill Rovers have appointed AFC Sudbury midfielder Michael Shinn as their new player-manager.

Shinn officially accepted the job on Friday night after he was allowed to be released from his contract at the Yellows.

Former Rovers full-back Dan Pilcher will be Shinn’s assistant and ex-goalkeeper Michael Bavester goalkeeping coach.

Shinn — who was assistant boss at Sudbury under Chris Tracey — is expected to be in the stand at the New Croft to watch his new charges face Gorleston on Saturday (3pm) before making his debut in the Rovers dugout at Godmanchester Rovers on Wednesday (7.45pm).
