Former Hadleigh United midfielder Ollie Canfer has become AFC Sudbury’s first signing of the summer.

The attacking midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, has been signed from Ryman League Division One North rivals Brightlingsea Regent.

AFC Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold, speaking to the club’s website, said: “ Ollie impressed in our fixtures against Brightlingsea last season and fits the profile of the type of player we want to bring to AFC Sudbury.

“He is exciting, hard working, and powerful with a proven goal-scoring record from anywhere in midfield.

“Most importantly for me, he his keen to improve and develop his game.

“I am very pleased that he has chosen AFC Sudbury to play his football for in the 2015/2016 season”.

Meanwhile, top goalscorer Kris Newby, who scored 17 goals for the beaten play-off semi-finalists from 46 appearances, has been transfer listed along with goalkeeper Alex Archer, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bury Town.
