Long Melford go into Saturday’s FA Vase second qualifying round match at Broxbourne Borough buoyed by victories in their last two games.
Ashley Drew and Nathan Rowe are suspended for the visit to the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division club, with prize money of £800 at stake.
Melford have enjoyed mixed results following their promotion to the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, but manager Jules Mumford attributes that to the gruelling schedule his players have faced.
“We have had games coming thick and fast, so we’ve had some great results and some poor results, but we knew every game was going to be tough in this league,” said Mumford.
Melford were scheduled to play at Ipswich Wanderers in a league fixture last night, so Mumford was keeping his fingers crossed that his players came through unscathed.
Broxbourne are not a completely unknown quantity, Mumford having picked up information on them from a player at another club in the league.
“We have a chance,” said Mumford. “I know the boys will give me everything, and we’d like to keep the run going.”
