AFC face Chesthunt at the MEL Group Stadium on Saturday (3pm) with Nicky Smith set to hand teenage goalkeeper Fred Howe his Ryman League debut.
The young shot stopper, who plays at number one for Suffolk Under-18s, will replace Nicky Eyre between the sticks, who is unavailable through a wedding commitment made before signing for AFC.
Howe could also have an extended run in the team, after making his one and only appearance in the cup at Lowestoft Town this season, after Eyre picked up a thigh injury on Tuesday, with the extent of the problem as yet unknown.
Jack Wignall will also be missing on Saturday as he starts the first of his three-game ban for his red card against East Thurrock United. But pacy winger Dave Wareham is set to boost Sudbury’s attacking options against the bottom-half side, returning from suspension incurred through a straight red at Needham Market.
