AFC Sudbury down leaders Maldon and Tiptree

AFC Sudbury struck twice in the first half to earn an excellent victory over Ryman One North leaders Maldon and Tiptree on Tuesday night.

Dave Cowley opened the scoring in the 40th minute before a brilliant individual goal by James Baker in first-half stoppage time doubled their advantage.

Although the visitors pulled one back through Jamie Guy in the 78th minute and Rhys Darg was sent off for a second bookable offence in the closing stages, AFC held on.

In the Thurlow Nunn League First Division, Long Melford were beaten 2-0 by Cambridge University Press and Halstead Town lost 3-2 at home to Braintree Town Reserves.
