AFC Sudbury - Double-award winner Nathan Clarke to leave club

AFC Sudbury supporters and players’ player of the year Nathan Clarke has surprisingly announced he is looking for a new club.

The shock move comes after the 11-goal defender scooped both the awards from his peers and Yellows fans at last Friday’s end-of-season dinner.

Clarke had left AFC before the end of the 2010/11 season and dropped into the Ridgeons League after his disciplinary record was deemed to be a problem.

But he returned at the start of the 2011/12 campaign having convinced the club he would not make the same mistakes again and his disciplinary record did vastly improve.

It was his performances on the pitch though, that made him stand out, often winning the Free Press’ man of the match award at home matches.

But he announced via his Twitter account on Thursday morning he will not be at AFC next season, saying it was partly his and partly the club’s decision.
