AFC Sudbury crash out of cup against Leiston

AFC Sudbury lost 3-0 at home to former AFC boss Mark Morsley’s Leiston in the Ryman League Cup on Tuesday night, meaning the Yellows are now out of all four cup competitions.

There was a debut for ex-Dagenham and Redbridge midfielder Danny Green, released from the League Two side this week, and goalkeeper Alex Archer, signed from Needham Market following Danny Gay leaving the club.

But there was little else for the low crowd of 122 to get enthusiastic about as the Ryman Premier side, one league above Sudbury, completed a comfortable victory, going in 2-0 up at the break.

The visitor’s goals came from ex-Needham Market winger Danny Thrower, Emmanuel Osei and then former AFC captain Gareth Heath, from the penalty spot in the second half.
