AFC Sudbury kept their Ryman League Division One North promotion aspirations on track last night (Tuesday) with a vital 2-0 win over play-off rivals Dereham Town.

Despite the sodden conditions at the MEL Group stadium, first half goals from Steve Spriggs after 22 minutes and a spectacular effort from James Baker, his 20th of the campaign, moments before the break proved enough to give David Batch’s side all three points.

The result maintained the Yellows’ unbeaten league run, which now stands at 12 games, leaving them in eighth place in the table, four points behind the play-off places but with as many as six games in hand on their rivals.
