Football: AFC Sudbury ready to wait for Rhodes

AFC SUDBURY are prepared to wait in their quest to sign former Football League forward Alex Rhodes, according to assistant manager Chris Tracey.

Rhodes made an eye-catching first appearance for AFC in the pre-season friendly against Bury Town last Friday, getting on the scoresheet in the 4-3 victory.

But although he has intimated that he would like to join Sudbury permanently, the winger wants to keep his options open for the time being as he wants to stay in the professional game.

Tracey, who has not ruled out Rhodes signing on a match-by-match basis initially, said: "The fact that he is playing and training with us is a big help (in trying to get him to sign). But it is something we would like to get sorted sooner rather than later."

AFC, who played Ipswich Wanderers last night, will wrap up their pre-season campaign at home to Lowestoft Town on Saturday, 3pm,
