England Ashes winner Matthew Hoggard was the star guest at Sudbury Cricket Club’s annual dinner at the Masonic Hall on Friday.

Around 120 people packed in to listen to the former Leicestershire and Yorkshire bowler give an excellent speech, before he handed out the club’s annual awards.

Alan Macdiarmid picked up the prestigious Player of the Year trophy, while scorer John Mallet was honoured with Clubperson of the Year.

Charlie Holt was awarded Most Improved Player of the Year, while Andrew Simmons scooped the Over 50 Player of the Year title.
