Sudbury lost their unbeaten run in a disappointing 70-run defeat at home to Coggeshall on Saturday.
The Talbots had won all six of their seven Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship matches which had finished before the weekend.
But after Coggeshall set a total of 178, with Darren Batch taking 3-25 and Mike Jones 37-4, they could only reach 108 all out in reply.
Openers Natahn Poole (27) and Jonathan Phillips (24) made the biggest contributions.
But Sudbury still remain top with a 14 point advantage over Frinton-on-Sea.
Mid-table Hadleigh made it three straight wins with a three-wicket win at Wivenhoe.
Josh Davey’s side restricted their opponents to 208-9 before reaching 2010 with three wickets in hand.
In Division Two, Halstead took all 20 points available in a six-wicket win at home to Brockley.
In Division Three, Long Melford earned their fifth straight win with a 46-run victory at Coggeshall II, while Sudbury II won by 73 runs at Brightlingsea.
