Sudbury suffer disappointing defeat while AFC grab victory

SUDBURY CC were back in East Anglian Premier league action on Saturday but slumped to a disappointing eight wicket defeat away to Swardeston.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat, a decision they perhaps were made to rue after limping to a total of 131, with Jay Phillips top scoring with 25.

Swardeston made light work of the target with a partnership of 123 from Stephen Gray (52no) and Michael Parlane (71no) pushing the hosts onto a total of 136-2 to secure victory.

Meanwhile, AFC Sudbury continued their pre-season programme with a 2-0 victory away to Halstead Town, courtesy of second half goals from Bradley Thomas and Micael Shinn.

They will be on the road again on Saturday when they travel to Ely City (3pm).
