Mildenhall avoided the weeekend washout to beat Witham and extend their lead at the top of Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division One to seven points.

Joe Reed and Peter Worthington both scored centuries as Mildenhall finished with a score of 313-5, while Ben Shepperson took three wickets as they bowled Witham all out for 234 to win by 79 runs.

Elsewhere, Ben Hyde produced a stunning innings of 171 runs to help Worlington (335-4) beat Haverhill (245) by 90 runs, while Hadleigh (159-9) dropped into the bottom two after an eight-wicket defeat against Wivenhoe (161-2).

In the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury, Woolpit and Burwell all finished with general draws on Saturday.

Mike Comber (85 not out) helped Bury get to 201-6 from their trip to Cambridge Granta (304-3 dec), while half centuries from Tom Huggins and Ben Reece got Sudbury to 226 against Great Witchingham (96-1).

Graham Hume (5-28) took five wickets for Burwell (75-3) in their general draw away at Woolpit (151).

In the Dipple and Conway Opticians Norfolk Alliance Premier Division, Garboldisham’s clash with Old Buckenham and Diss’ home meeting with North Runcton were both abandoned.
