Bures are champions of men's division three of the Halstead League, winning 13 of their 14 matches on the way to promotion in their fourth season in the league.
The club was formed seven years ago when the tennis courts were first laid on the village recreation ground, and entered a team in the men's division in 2005, finishing bottom of the league that year and again in 2006, before recording a mid-table finish in 2007.

Club captain Philip Gough said: "The team is made up largely of teenagers from the village who have improved greatly over the last two seasons.

"This season we had particularly consistent results from Dan Fairless and Michael Cook, who only lost two sets all season, and Tom Fairless and Adam Leeks.

"Harry McAndrew and Dominic Deane played regularly and showed great promise for the future. Other members of the squad which I captained were Humberto Ayala and Chris Bhaker.

"We are looking forward to the challenge of playing in division two next season."

The club's outdoor season has finished, although a weekly indoor club night runs through the winter.

Anyone interested in joining the club, which is Suffolk LTA affiliated, or for more information, should contact Philip Gough on 07957 812457.
