THIS derby was a superb game of attacking football. After an even opening period Cornard took the lead through Tyler Hayes, who converted from close range.
The home side increased their lead two minutes later, Steve Willis heading home from the edge of the six-yard box.

Boxford struck back, Johnny Moore releasing Patrick Duverne, who fired home. The same combination brought the equaliser, Duverne he
ading home Moore's cross.

Boxford took the lead in the second period, Duverne completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Howard Walsh was felled in the area.

Visiting keeper Stevie Nice pushed an excellent effort onto the bar before Ross Waugh scored a late equaliser for the home side.

Hadleigh United under-13s 9 Ipswich Lions 0

Hadleigh had a convincing victory in this opening South Suffolk Friendly Cup Pool B game, man-of-the-match Tom Fairweather scoring six goals.

This was an excellent performance from the team, with the defence of Oliver Rhodes, Lewis Wilding, Ryan Bray and Matthew Mackie having very little to do in this one-sided game.

Hadleigh started strongly, Fairweather scoring an early goal. The pressure continued, with a goal from Sean Liggett and Fairweather completing his hat-trick.

In the second half Hadleigh went further ahead with a well-placed free kick from Shaun Lloyd. Jack Hay scored from a long range shot, and Fairweather grabbed another three goals.

Hadleigh keeper Toby Rankin made an excellent save from a penalty, and beat away the follow-up shot.

Bures United under-13s 2

Lexden Saints Reds 0

A first-half brace of goals from top scorer Daniel Livens was enough for Bures to avenge their only Colchester League defeat this season and gain a deserved victory over Lexden.

Lexden started strongly although the Bures rearguard stood firm, denying any clear-cut opportunities and providing excellent protection for stand-in goalkeeper Owain Taylor.

As Bures got into their stride, so the chances came, and from a 12th minute corner, they went ahead.

Lexden were unable to clear and after a melee in the goalmouth, Livens pounced to prod in his first.

Livens bagged his second as he raced on to a perfectly weighted through ball from the hardworking Stephen Kent, and placed his shot neatly past the onrushing Lexden goalkeeper.

In the second period, the heavy pitch took its toll and as legs tired so chances were at a premium. Man-of-the-match was Robert Scott.

Alresford Colne Rangers 1 Clare Town Lions under-13s 8

Clare continued their fine start to the Colchester League season with an impressive win over Alresford who for the first 10 minutes looked most likely to score.

The goals then started to come thick and fast with James Rawlinson 2 and Jamie Clark taking Clare into half-time 3-0 up.
