THE Halstead League Widdop Cup saw Haverhill go down to Sudbury Snooker Centre B by four frames to two.
Some excellent potting by Colin Bayley of the Snooker Centre, in just beating Andy Driver, secured a semi-final place in his team.

Haverhill thought their chances of reaching the semis had gone, but Sible Hedingham claimed an excellent 4-2 win ove
r Earls Colne, leaving Haverhill and Earls Colne in joint fourth. By virtue of Haverhill losing fewer games in the cup they go through.

The first four frames went to the Hedingham side and a whitewash looked on the cards. Joe Kane Jnr knocked in a 47 break against Arthur Moles after finding himself 35 points behind.

The tide turned for the Colne players in the last two matches, with Tony Newman securing a black ball one point winning margin over Joe Kane Snr and Luke Heard knocking in a 52 break against Andy Cutts.

In the match between Sudbury Snooker Centre B and D the latter ran out 4-2 winners to secure their place in the semis.

Some fortunate potting by their captain Bill Hemmett Snr in beating Rob Howard, fluking the final black, and a 34 break by Mick Drury in his match with Howard saw the D side home.

Sudbury Snooker Centre A will play Haverhill and Snooker Centre B will play Snooker Centre D. Both matches will be at the Snooker Centre.
