THE 14th annual Halstead and Essex Marathon takes place on Sunday, starting at race headquarters, Halstead Leisure Centre at 10am.
The marathon, voted in the top ten in the magazine Runner's World, is organised by Halstead Road Runners, and a field of more than 500 is expected.

Road Runners Bob Parmenter and Andy Wilmot walked the Heritage coastal marathon in fine weather. The event started in Thorpeness and followed the beautiful coastline. They finished together in 5hr 43min 8 second.
Wayne Kern and Keith Thorogood took part in the Breckland 10k, Kern finishing 30th in 41:05 and Thorogood 132nd in 50:40

l Breckland 10k was the venue for seven Sudbury Joggers on Sunday. Weather conditions were surprisingly very warm and breezy, however this did not stop the Joggers from achieving fast times on the mainly flat course.
Paul Preston was the first Jogger home in an excellent time of 36:48 taking seventh place, closely followed by Darren Judd in a splendid time of 38:00 for 12th. This was his fourth personal best result in a row.
Andy Buck put on a good performance, gaining a new personal best in 38:34 taking 16th place. Christian Gillibrand ran a strong race, giving him a new personal best of 39:44 for 24th spot.
Eric Marseille achieved a new personal best in 44:14 for 53rd place, a good run. Alex Wilson put on a grand display, gaining him another personal best in 49:18 for 115th place.
Phyllida Hallidie completed the distance in 1:00:29 for 222nd place.
