Sudbury travelled to Romford with several key players missing on Saturday, and this may have been the reason for their worst London League 3NE performance of the season so far.
Sudbury made their usual aggressive start, attacking from the off, but Romford seemed to be able to soak up the pressure and defended well.

Sudbury were having little success in the set pieces and although they were working hard individually, not
clicking as a team.

Romford scored three tries in the first half, and all came from similar moves when they shipped the ball from set pieces through a couple of phases of play to stretch the defence and create a gap in the centre of the park, giving them a 19-0 lead at half-time.

Sudbury made changes for the second half, and although Romford scored soon after the restart, began to get back into the game. The pack began to control the scrums giving the team a better platform to work from.

Alex Fear scored Sudbury's first try after 61 minutes. The second try was well-worked, Scott Harries making the initial break down the left wing with a 30 metre run.

A good tackle put the ball loose, but Adam Lucia cleaned up, and a quick pass inside put the backs into space for Guillaume Botha to score under the posts.

Ollie Chapman converted and Sudbury were back in the game.
Romford replied with another try after a period of pressure, but

Sudbury never gave up and finished with a try from Matt Chambers just before the end.

Sudbury have a week off, which will give players time to get over injuries and see the return of some players who have not been available. Harlow away is the next fixture on October 25.
