Welcoming an improving and competitive Newmarket side, Sudbury continued their excellent start to the season, but were made to work hard for their victory.
Newmarket, by handsomely winning the first scrum, showed Sudbury the fine art of scrumaging and this set the pattern of the game; they were not going to be a walkover.

Sudbury, the quicker team around the park, spluttered at the set piece but wer
e dominant in the loose and with the ball out wide. First to score was W Levett finding the line with the pack driving him over for a well taken forwards try.

The game showed touches of brilliance but all too often was frustratingly slow at the breakdown, and Newmarket proved valiant and determined through several strong breaks of their own.

A Beckett, once again showing all his pace, was soon on the score sheet and bagged a further four on the day. He was ably backed up by a good overall improvement by the Sudbury team, who were always in support of the ball carrier.

Positives were there and man-of-the-match T White had a great game at fullback, proving immense under the high ball. The forwards stuck with the task and in the end reasserted themselves to finish the winners of a great forward battle.

Sudbury, earning their third win of the season know that they still have further work to undertake as they develop, but can take heart from another sound win.
