Sudbury rower Jenny Spencer will this weekend compete for Great Britain in the Junior European Championships in Cork, Ireland.
Spencer, who has been training with the squad at Holme Pierrepont, Nottinghamshire, has been picked for the single sculls.

The last Sudbury rower to qualify for the GB squad was Sam Dixon in 2003, said coach Tony Moule.

Meanwhile, nine members of Sudbury Rowing Club, plus supporters, travelled to the Henley Veterans' Regatta. Racing took place over 1000 metres of the Royal Regatta course on the weekend following Henley Royal Regatta.

The Sudbury crew, of Charles Howard, Keith Paxman, Adrian Ablitt, Mike Arnott, Andrew Blit, David Bull, Aidan Dunn and stroke Trevor Chambers, coxed by Tricia McGrillen, raced in the Veteran C category, for crews with an average age between 43 and 49.

In the same category was the Molesey composite crew, including Sir Steve Redgrave.

Sudbury lost by a narrow three-quarters of a length in the quarter-finals to a Northwich composite crew.
