MARTIN Byford won both races in the final two rounds of the SEAT Cupra Championship on the 1.2-mile Indy circuit at Brands Hatch, results which saw him finish third in the 20-race championship.
Byford, from Leavenheath, who is sponsored by Sudbury's A&B Glass, took second place on the grid in qualifying for both races, with lap times of 50.35 and 50.12 respectively, an average speed of 86mph.

In the first race he started behind championship leader Robert Lawson, taking the lead at Druids, and holding it until the safety car was deployed on lap 19 and the race red-flagged. His time of 50.43 on lap four was a new lap record.

A better start in the second race saw him overtake Jonathon Adam, second in the championship standing, at the first corner. He led throughout, taking the chequered flag 0.28sec in front of Adam.

This was the final race in the SEAT Cupra Championship as the manufacturer is pulling out of British motorsport.
