Jay Bridger, who clinched the F3 National Class Championship at the August round of races in Bucharest, ended the season with a second place and a win at Donington at the weekend.
The Sudbury-based Fluid Motorsport driver set fastest times in both qualifiers, seeing him take his eighth and ninth pole positions this season.

He didn't make the best start and lost several positions at the lights, allowing Henry Surtees to take the lead. But Bridger battled hard for the remainder of the first race and fought his way through the field to cross the line just 0.3 seconds behind Surtees.

Bridger got a decent start in the second race, and found himself with a comfortable gap to second-placed Surtees.

Although under no pressure, Bridger didn't just sit back, but pushed hard to the end of the race, seeing him take his 18th podium and fifth class win of the season, finishing eighth overall, his highest placing of the year.

Following on from their success at Silverstone, Fluid's Formula Fords were again on shining form. In the final three races of the season, Scotsman David Brown took two wins and a second.

In the first race he battled hard, and going into the penultimate lap it was a three-way battle between Wayne Boyd, Victor Correa and Brown. He made his move on Boyd on the final lap, taking second behind Correa.

Overnight rain saw a very wet and slippery track on Sunday morning. Determined to make up for his first race disappointment, Brown set a succession of fastest laps in the drying conditions, sweeping past Tim Blanchard for second on lap eight and then closing down Boyd and nailing him into the Goddard's chicane.

Then it was a race to the flag, Brown crossing the line to take his first win of the season "At last," he said. "This has been a long time coming. It was a great race, so close all the way, I loved every minute."

In the last race Brown made a superb getaway to seize the lead from pole man Chris Maliepaard into Redgate, but struggled to make a break.

He defended brilliantly, bottling up his pursuers – led initially by Maliepaard and then by Boyd – for six laps until an error from Boyd as he rounded Coppice saw him go onto the grass.

Brown made the most of the opportunity to increase his lead and never looked in danger of losing his second race victory of the day, finishing 3.4 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack.

He finished the championship in seventh place, Boyd taking the title.
